Fall TV preview 2014: Watch the trailers

Executives from the top TV networks are gathered in New York City this week to unveil their hot new shows. Influenced by the success of superheroes on the big screen, get ready for more comic book series (“Constantine,” “Gotham” and “Marvel’s Agent Carter”) mixed with the more traditional dramas and comedies.

Stand-up comedian John Mulaney plays a version of himself in New York City in this sitcom based on his life and experiences.

'Hieroglpyh'

Midseason on Fox

Sorcery and sexy combine in this series set in ancient Egypt, in which a charismatic thief is taken out of prison to serve the pharaoh.

'Empire'

Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson star in this family drama set in the world of hip-hop music, that will feature lots of original songs.

'Gracepoint'

David Tennant reprises his role in this American remake of the BBC series "Broadchurch." Tennant plays a police detective investigating the murder of a young boy in a small coastal town.

'The Last Man on Earth'

In this comedy series Will Forte plays an average guy who just happens to be the only guy left on Earth.

Originally titled "The Visitors," this drama centers on an unseen alien force preying on humans and using children to overtake the world. It stars Barry Sloane, Lily Rabe and Milo Ventimiglia. It's written and co-executive produced by "Under the Dome's" Soo Hugh.

A young California couple are attacked in their home and four suspects are arrested in a case that stirs tensions across racial lines. Felicity Huffman stars along with Timothy Hutton. Written, directed and produced by John Ridley.

'Scorpion'
