Every year, tens of thousands of runners have flowed through the streets of Los Angeles. What starts as a wall spreads out over time into a river of people covering the 26 miles at different paces. While most of the attention is focused on the elite runners, half the runners took more than five hours to cross the finish line last year.
We analyzed the finish times for every finisher in last year's marathon and broke them up into age groups. Not surprisingly, 20- to 40-year-olds had the best times. Those in their 40s also had a strong showing with an average time that was 10 minutes faster than the norm. Here’s how all the runners compare.
