Video interviews with L.A.’s mayoral candidates

In preparing to endorse a candidate for mayor of Los Angeles, The Times’ editorial board invited each of the eight candidates who qualified for the ballot to discuss their plans and aspirations for the city. We also invited the five candidates whose support, fundraising and organization demonstrated the viability of their candidacies to share with our readers their responses to two questions: (1) Describe a problem you have solved in your career that pitted you against your usual principles or your usual allies and how it demonstrates the skills that would make you excel as mayor; and (2) Describe the Los Angeles we should expect to see after eight years with you as mayor, how it is different from the Los Angeles of today — and how you expect to accomplish it given the difficulties that prior administrations have had.
