Obama’s Gallup numbers by state

Despite his low ratings nationally, President Obama still has 16 states (including California) and the District of Columbia whose 215 electoral votes he can probably count on carrying in 2012. An additional 22 states with 168 electoral votes are almost certainly out of reach. The election likely will be fought out in the dozen states in between.

Roll over a state to see Obama's average approval rating from Jan. 2 through June 30, 2011.
