Competitors swim in Hyde Park’s the Serpentine, bike around Buckingham Palace and finish with a run around the Serpentine.

Olympic Park site hosts BMX events

Thirty-eight men and 16 women are competing over three days in the sport’s second appearance in the Olympics. The men’s course is slightly longer. Americans Connor Fields and Alise Post are medal contenders.

Mountain bikers roll through Essex

This born-in-California sport is usually raced on mountain trails, but the 2012 Olympics competition takes place in rolling countryside in Essex, east of London. Several dozen riders will start at one time, with a typical race lasting about 1.5 hours.
