How much does your baseball team cost?

It's the same question every year - will a handful of teams spending big money on big names dominate the standings?

Some would say that it's not about the money. Last year's World Series was between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets, two teams in the bottom half of all MLB payrolls. Meanwhile the Mets took out the largest payroll Dodgers in the first round, and the second-highest Yankees lost to the second-lowest Astros in a wild-card game.

Set up your own matchups below, and follow throughout the season to see which players and teams are paying off.

Notes: Rosters and payrolls fluctuate over the course of a season. Although we will update the graphic on a regular basis, information may be slightly out of date. Total team payrolls may also include contract payments to players who are no longer on the team and are not listed in the roster.

Although some players cover multiple positions, each player has been assigned to one position in this representation.
